Το φετινό X-Dream Festival ολοκληρώνεται με μια μουσική βραδιά με τους Elektronik Meditation από Ελλάδα και Plain History την Παρασκευή 20 Δεκεμβρίου 2013 και ώρα 20:30, σε συνεργασία με τη Λουβάνα Δίσκοι.

Elektronik Meditation είναι το οπτικο-ακουστικό πειραματικό project του Γιάννη Αναστασάκη και της Deniz Αγγελάκη. Ο Γ.Αναστασάκης, είναι επίσης μέλος του Haig Yazdjian group και σχεδιαστής και κατασκευαστής των JAM pedals. Έχοντας ως μέσα την κιθάρα και αναλογικά -επί το πλείστων- εφέ και synth, δημιουργεί μοναδικούς και πρωτόγνωρους ήχους. Το αποτέλεσμα είναι ένα κράμα ambient και ψυχεδέλειας που ισορροπεί μεταξύ μελωδίας και θορύβου, ξεπερνώντας πολλές φορές τα "επιτρεπτά" όρια. Η Deniz χρησιμοποιεί το χρώμα σαν μέσο έκφρασης και την κάμερα για να προβάλλει ζωντανά την κάθε στιγμή και λεπτομέρεια που διαδραματίζεται πάνω στον καμβά και σε άλλα υλικά. Με μια ιδιαίτερη τεχνική προβολής, δίνει έμφαση στην λεπτομέρεια δίνοντας μία μοναδική εικαστική προέκταση στην μουσική του Γ. Αναστασάκη. Οι παραστάσεις τους είναι μια μοναδική εμπειρία να βιώσει κανείς τη δύναμη της σύμπραξης μεταξύ των δύο διαφορετικών τεχνών, καθώς και τη δύναμη του αυτοσχεδιασμού. Έχουν κυκλοφορήσει ένα live cd/dvd και το άλμπουμ “Purgatory”. Έχουν δώσει συναυλίες σε όλη την Ελλάδα, Κύπρο, Όσλο και Κωνσταντινούπολη.

Οι Plain History μετά από μια πετυχημένη σειρά καλοκαιρινών εμφανίσεων σε όλα τα σημαντικά φεστιβάλ της Κύπρου, συμπράττουν με τους Elektronik Meditation σε μια μουσική βραδιά που έχει να κάνει σε μεγάλο βαθμό με το live looping. Άλλωστε και τα δύο σχήματα έχουν εμφανιστεί σε περασμένα Λευκωσία Loop Festival. Τα σταθερά μέλη του γκρουπ, Chris&Terry στα synths και Mouse Face στο μπάσο και φωνή, θα έχουν μαζί τους το συχνό τους συνεργάτη Δημήτρη Γιασεμίδη στα πνευστά και θα παίξουν ένα αρκετά ambient σετ.

Οι TAT-TNABAR είναι μια πανίσχυρη ομάδα που αποτελείται από 5 ταλέντα, επαγγελματίες  στον χώρο των κρουστών – χορού – θεάτρου  και μουσικής.

Οι  Tat-Tnabar Δημιουργήθηκαν από τον Λευτέρη Μοσχοβία στην Κύπρο το καλοκαίρι του 2000, και στόχος του είναι να ξεφύγει από τα συνηθισμένα μουσικά μονοπάτια χρησιμοποιώντας οτιδήποτε άλλο εκτός από συνηθισμένα μουσικά όργανα, με πηγή έμπνευσης την αφρικάνικη μουσική ιστορία.   

Οι  TAT-TNABAR είναι η μοναδική ομάδα κρουστών στην Κύπρο που συμμετέχει σε διάφορα φεστιβάλ ηλεκτρονικής  μουσικής στο εξωτερικό συνοδεύοντας γνωστούς DJ όπως  Tiesto, Sacha, Robbie Rivera, David Siemen, Nick Warren, Said Murat, dj Rise-London kiss Fm, dj Danny P,   κ.α

Γράφουν μουσική για θέατρο, για ταινίες, ντοκιμαντέρ, όπου και εκτελούν οι ίδιοι πάντα, με όργανα τα οποία και κατασκευάζουν.

Η μουσική τους  έχει βραβευτεί στα βραβεία θεάτρου του ΘΟΚ ως η καλύτερη μουσική για τα έτη 2005/2006 – 2006/2007.

Επίσης κάνουν εμφανίσεις και δίνουν σεμινάρια με θέμα   (η εξέλιξη του ρυθμού και του ήχου, από την παλαιολιθική εποχή, μέχρι τώρα που ζούμε στην ηλεκτρονική μουσική)

Ήχος -ρυθμός –κίνηση με στοιχεία παρμένα από διάφορες αφρικάνικες μουσικές  φυλές που ζουν στα βάθη της ζούγκλας. Με την ιστορία, τη φιλοσοφία και τη μυθολογία, αποτελούν το αρχείο της ανθρώπινης παράδοσης. Είναι υμνωδοί, κρουστοί, θεραπευτές, χορευτές, τροβαδούροι, και χρησιμοποιούν μόνο  αυτοσχέδια  ανακυκλωμένα  μουσικά όργανα.

Τα μουσικά όργανα που χρησιμοποιούν είναι ανακυκλωμένα υλικά- κατσαρόλες -κουβάδες –βαρέλια – πλαστικοί σωλήνες ή ακόμη και λαχανικά! Καταφέρνουν να συνδυάσουν την οικολογία με την τέχνη και να προσφέρουν ένα μοναδικό θέαμα αλλά ταυτόχρονα να δώσουν και ένα δυνατό μήνυμα για προστασία του περιβάλλοντος. Σε ταξιδεύουν σε μαγικά μονοπάτια όπου μπορείς να ανακαλύψεις ομορφιές του πλανήτη μας, από την έρημο μέχρι τα δάση του Αμαζονίου, από τα βάθη της Αφρικής μέχρι τη σύγχρονη Ευρώπη, από το βυθό της θάλασσας μέχρι την πιο ψηλή κορφή. Μέσα από την ομορφιά και την τέχνη γεννιέται ο πολιτισμός, ο σεβασμός από άνθρωπο προς άνθρωπο και η αγάπη σε ότι μας περιβάλλει.

Οι TAT-TNABAR θα συμμετέχουν στην εκδήλωση Moving Silence, που θα πραγματοποιηθεί στις 6 Δεκεμβρίου 2013 και ώρα 20:30 σε συνεργασία με το Ινστιτούτο Γκαίτε.

Tat-Tnabar is a mighty team of 5 talented professionals in the fields of percussions, dance, theatre and music.

They were created by Lefteris Moschovias in Cyprus during the summer of 2000, and their goal is to break away from the usual musical trends, by utilizing anything but the usual musical instruments, with the source of their inspiration originating from the musical history of Africa.

They compose music for theatre, movies and documentaries and always perform their own music with instruments that they built from scratch.

Their music has been awarded the THOK (Cyprus Theatre Organization) theatre award as “Best music of the Year” on two separate occasions – 2005/06 and 2006/07.

They also perform and give seminars on “The evolution of rhythm and sound, from the Paleolithic era to today, of electronic music).

Sound-rhythm-moves with extracts taken from various African musical tribes that live in the depths of the jungle. With history, philosophy and mythology being the archives of human heritage. They are hymn singers, percussionists, healers, dancers, troubadours and only use self-made musical instruments from recycled materials.

The musical instruments that they use are recycled materials – pots and pans- buckets – barrels – plastic tubes and even vegetables. They manage to combine ecology with art and offer a unique spectacle as well as strong environmental message. They will travel you on magical paths where one can discover the beauties of our planet, from the desert to the Amazon rainforest, from the depths of Africa to modern Europe, from the sea bed to the highest mountain peak. Through beauty and art, culture is born alongside the respect of human being toward other human beings and the love in everything that surrounds us.

Johannes Marx (Pitchtuner) | Moving Silence

Johannes Marx is the singer, producer and guitarist of Pitchtuner. 

Besides Pitchtuner, Johannes is constantly working on his solo project. Here all bets are off as long as it is joyful to perform the music. With his voice, guitar and some self built electronic devices, Johannes creates a now melancholic then enthusiastic atmosphere. 

Johannes works together with different visual and conceptual artists. 

Even famous radio DJ John Peel couldn't resist to airplay his songs after he received a demo wrapped in a pizza box.


Johannes Marx will be performing at the Moving Silence event, taking place on the 6th of December 2013 at 20:30 in collaboration with the Goethe Institut Cyprus.

Toni Kater (Anett Ecklebe) | Moving Silence

Anett Ecklebe as Toni Kater is a singer-songwriter, composer and writer living and working in Berlin. Anett has been performing since 1996 under the name Toni Kater, and despite her love-hate relationship with the city, it will always be home base. She has released three albums already and about to add one more. She has written music for film as well as for advertising and contributed to various music and film productions.

Toni Kater is a storyteller which is not only expressed in her music. 2011 her first tale Graf Rudi was published which underlines her intentional use of language – in both a poetic yet humorous way. Her lyrics and sound are held together by a raw and honest voice. Her work she always sees as part of process and progress where an experimental sound meets a more classical one. As influences on her music she names Cat Power, Susanne Vega as well as Depeche Mode and Björk.

The Pattern which connects - 12 December 2013

Το 5ο X-Dream Festival ολοκληρώνεται με την εγκατάσταση & παράσταση ήχου με τίτλο “The Pattern which connects”, που θα πραγματοποιηθεί την Πέμπτη 12 Δεκεμβρίου στις 20:30 στο Ίδρυμα ARTos σε συνεργασία με την Αυστριακή Πρεσβεία. Ο τίτλος "The Pattern Which Connects" είναι παρμένος από το βιβλίο του Gregory Bateson με τίτλο "Mind And Nature: A Necessary Unity". Αυτή η δήλωση με έναν υπέροχο τρόπο δένει το πνευματικό και το υλικό – ένα ερέθισμα που συσχετίζει την επιστήμη και την τέχνη με έναν άμεσο τρόπο σε αυτό το έργο. Το έργο αυτό αποτελεί γέφυρα μεταξύ αυτών των δυο κόσμων και στοχεύει στην ανάδειξη της ύπαρξης των μοτίβων που συνδέουν. Πρόκειται για μια αμοιβαία έμπνευση επιστημονικού και καλλιτεχνικού έργου.

Σαν ένα σύνθετο δεκάδων χιλιάδων επιμέρους εικόνων, οι φωτομικρογραφίες είναι ταυτόχρονα τέχνη και επιστημονική μέθοδος. Μετακινούνται σε νέες διαστάσεις – για την ανεύρεση νέων μοτίβων – για αλλαγή. Αν η αντίληψη αλλάξει, μπορεί και η πραγματικότητα να μεταβληθεί. Ίσως έχει ξεπεραστεί η ανάγκη όλα να είναι διαχωρισμένα και κατηγοριοποιημένα, ίσως να μπορέσουμε να ξεκινήσουμε να δουλεύουμε νέες έννοιες, ανεξάρτητα από το όνομα τους – τέχνη ή επιστήμη.

Το «The Pattern which connects» - σαν φωτογραφία – εκτέθηκε στο Künstlerhaus Wien τον Ιούνιο και Ιούλιο 2013. Για το X-Dream Festival στη Λευκωσία, θα κάνει δυο βήματα μπροστά. Το έργο θα επεκταθεί και στη διάσταση του χρόνου και οι εικόνες θα αλληλεπιδράσουν με ήχο, όπου ο Michael Bachhofer θα συνεργαστεί με τον Tomash Ghzegovskyy. Ελπίζουν πως αυτό το πείραμα θα οδηγήσει σε νέες εμπειρίες στην κατανόηση μοτίβων που ενώνουν.

Πώς ξεκίνησε το “The Pattern which connects”
Η εικόνα, καθώς και το βιβλίο, προγραμματίστηκαν και δημιουργηθήκαν/γράφτηκαν στο Πανεπιστήμιο Τεχνών του Τόκυο – Εργαστήρι Καλλιτεχνικής Ανατομίας κατά τη διάρκεια του έτους φιλοξενίας του Bachhofer. Η εποπτεία γινόταν μέσω τηλεπικοινωνίας και διαδικτυακών συνεδριάσεων των Bernd Kräftner και Virgil Widrich, ένα άλλο ενδιαφέρον πείραμα εξάλειψης της απόστασης των 10.000 περίπου χιλιομέτρων με τη βοήθεια νέας τεχνολογίας.

Για αυτό το έργο αναπτύχθηκε μια συσκευή που επιτρέπει πολύ ακριβές κίνηση του συστήματος καταγραφής (φωτογραφική και μικροσκόπιο με μεγάλη απόσταση λειτουργίας). Τα τρία στάδια είναι σε θέση να κινούνται σε κλάσματα ενός μικρομέτρου και ελέγχονται από τον υπολογιστή. Η τελική εικόνα είναι 1.5 giga pixels και θα μπορούσε να τυπωθεί 3x6 μέτρασε 300 dpi, που προσφέρει πλούσια λεπτομέρεια, όπως τη γύρη πάνω στα λέπια του φτερού της πεταλούδας.

Ο Michael Bachhofer φοίτησε σε έξι πανεπιστήμια και έχει μεταπτυχιακό στη βιολογία/εθνο-ιατρική οικολογία από το Πανεπιστήμιο της Βιέννης και καλές τέχνες και media arts / τέχνη και επιστήμη από το Angewandte. Για ένα χρόνο στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Τόκυο σπούδασε αισθητική και ιστορία της τέχνης / ανατομία της τέχνης, φωτογραφία και κέντο.

Το έργο του Michael Bachhofer εστιάζεται στην αλλαγή και επέκταση της ανθρώπινης αντίληψης εφαρμόζοντας τεχνολογικές και ψυχολογικές προσεγγίσεις. Πολλά έργα αποτελούνται από εκατοντάδες και χιλιάδες μικρές εικόνες που σχηματίζουν μια μεγαλύτερη εικόνα και υποστηρίζουν μια (περισσότερο) ολιστική άποψη. Χρησιμοποιεί εργαλεία και μεθόδους όπως μικρο-φωτογραφία, υπολογιστική απεικόνιση στη ραδιολογία, τεχνολογία φακών, τρανς και υπνωτισμό, μετασχηματισμό χωροχρόνου, ανάλυση δικτύων και η δημιουργία ήχου χαμηλών συχνοτήτων και υποηχητικών κυμάτων. Επικεντρώνεται στις θεωρίες και ερωτήσεις που αφορούν την αντίληψη – πραγματικότητα – αλήθεια και στους συσχετισμούς τέχνης και επιστήμης.

Είναι έντονα επηρεασμένος από τη φιλοσοφία και επιστημολογία του ριζοσπαστικού κονστρουκτιβισμού των Heinz von Foerster και Ernst von Glasersfeld. Άλλες σημαντικές επιρροές στο έργο και τρόπο σκέψης του είναι Gregory Bateson, Alexandro Jodorowski, Bernd Kräftner, Haruki Murakami, Armin Prinz, Toru Takahashi, Nikola Tesla, Alexey Titarenko, Peter Weish και Virgil Widrich.

The 5th X-Dream Festival concludes with the installation & sound performance entitled “The Pattern which connects”, which will take place on Thursday 12 December at 20:30 at the ARTos Foundation in collaboration with the Austrian Embassy. The title "The Pattern Which Connects" is taken out of Gregory Bateson's book "Mind And Nature: A Necessary Unity". This statement attends in a wonderful way with the mind and body matter - a stimulus which interrelates science and art directly in this project. This work builds a bridge between these two worlds, and wants to show that the patterns that connect exist. It is a contemplation about mutual inspiration of scientific and artistic work.

As a composite of tens of thousands of individual images, photomicrographs are both art and scientific method. It's about to move into new dimensions - to find new patterns - to change. If perception is changed, reality might alter too. Perhaps the time is over where everything had to be neatly separated and categorized and we can start working on new concepts, no matter how they may be named - art or science.
The Pattern which connects - as a photograph - was exhibited at the Künstlerhaus Wien in June and July of 2013. For the X-Dream Festival in Nicosia, Cyprus, it will move two steps forward. The project will be extended to the dimension of time and the images will interact with sound where Michael Bachhofer will collaborate with Tomash Ghzegovskyy. They hope that this experiment will lead into new experiences in understanding the patterns that connect.

How “The Pattern which connects” started:
The image, as well as the book, was planned and created/written at the Tokyo University of the Arts - Laboratory for Artistic Anatomy during Bachhofer’s guest year. It was supervised via telecommunication and internet conferences by Bernd Kräftner and Virgil Widrich, which was also an interesting experiment to eliminate the distance of about 10.000 kilometers by new technology.
For this project a device was developed that enabled very precise movement of the recording system (camera and microscope objective with long working distance). The three stages are able to move in fractions of a micrometer and are computer controlled. The resulting image has 1,5 giga pixels and could be printed 3x6 meters with 300 dpi, which offers rich detail, like pollen on the scales of the butterfly wing.

Michael Bachhofer studied at six universities and holds master´s degrees in biology / ethno-medical ecology from the University of Vienna and in fine arts and media arts / art & science from die Angewandte. He has spent one year overseas at the Tokyo University of the Arts where he has studied aesthetics and art history / art anatomy, photography and Kendo.

Michael Bachhofer´s work is focused on altering and extending human perception by applying technological and psychological approaches. Many works consist of hundreds and thousands of smaller images that form a bigger picture and therefore support a (more) holistic view. He employs tools and methods like micro-photography, computational imaging in radiology, lenticular technology, trance and hypnosis, time-space transformation, network analysis and the generation of low frequency sound and subsonic waves. He is focused on theories and questions concerning perception - reality - truth and in art and science interrelations.

He is strongly influenced by the philosophy and epistemology of the radical constructivism by Heinz von Foerster and Ernst von Glasersfeld. Other major impacts on his work and his way of thinking were Gregory Bateson, Alexandro Jodorowski, Bernd Kräftner, Haruki Murakami, Armin Prinz, Toru Takahashi, Nikola Tesla, Alexey Titarenko, Peter Weish and Virgil Widrich.

Moving Silence - 6 December 2013

Σε συνέχεια της μεγάλης επιτυχίας του Moving Silence στην Κύπρο το 2011 και 2012 στο ίδρυμα ARTos, το Moving Silence πραγματοποιείται φέτος για τρίτη συνεχή χρονιά σε συνεργασία με το Ινστιτούτο Γκαίτε στα πλαίσια του 5ου X-Dream Festival. Την Παρασκευή 6 Δεκεμβρίου 2013 στις 8:30 μ.μ. στο ίδρυμα ΑRTοs, μουσικοί και συνθέτες από Γερμανία, Ελλάδα και Κύπρο θα συναντηθούν για να ερμηνεύσουν ζωντανά στο κοινό μουσική που συνέθεσαν ειδικά για ταινίες χωρίς ήχο σύγχρονων δημιουργών της επιλογής τους. Οι θεατές θα έχουν μια μοναδική εμπειρία όπου οι μουσικοί ερμηνεύουν ζωντανά τη μουσική τους ενώ γίνεται παράλληλη προβολή της ταινίας που επέλεξαν, που τους ενέπνευσε για το κομμάτι που ερμηνεύουν. Θα πραγματοποιηθούν επίσης παραστάσεις με μοναδικά αυτοσχέδια και μη-συμβατικά μουσικά όργανα.  "O σύγχρονος κινηματογράφος μπορεί να ανακτήσει την εκφραστική ελευθερία του” λένε τα μέλη του Moving Silence. Ενθαρρύνοντας τη συνεργασία και ανταλλαγή μεταξύ μουσικών, καλλιτεχνών και κινηματογραφιστών, και αφήνοντας χώρο στο ζωντανό αυτοσχεδιασμό, η πλατφόρμα Moving Silence καλεί το κοινό να έρθει σε επαφή με νέες οπτικοακουστικές εμπειρίες, όπου ο ήχος και η εικόνα θα συναντηθούν με με ασυνήθιστο και απροσδόκητο τρόπο. Η πλατφόρμα κινηματογραφιστών και μουσικών Moving Silence ιδρύθηκε το 2009 στο Βερολίνο από τον μουσικό Marco Brosolo, τον κινηματογραφιστή Matthias Fritsch και τον παραγωγό Federico Bassetti με με σκοπό να συνδέσει τις ρίζες του κινηματογράφου με την αισθητική της σύγχρονης εικόνας, τη ζωντανή παραγωγή μουσικής και πιθανές νέες τεχνολογίες. On Friday 6 December 2013 at 20:30 at the ARTos Foundation musicians and composers from Germany, Greece and Cyprus will meet to perform live soundtracks for video and film works without sound by contemporary creators of their choice. The audience will have a unique experience where the musicians-composers perform live their music while the films/videos that ave inspired them are simultaneously screened. On the same evening performances with unique self-made and non-conventional instruments will take place. "The contemporary cinema could take back this expressive freedom" the Moving Silence members state. "Any visual style can profit from a sound language, by using advanced digital technologies as well as old analog techniques. Live performances sustain and amplify the films as musicians can breathe new life into silent cinema, which inappropriately remained silent for such a long time." Encouraging collaboration and exchange between musicians, artists and cinematographers, the Moving Silence platform therefore invites the Nicosia audience to new audiovisual experiences expressed through live improvisations and interpretations, where experimental image and sound are expected to meet in unusual and unexpected ways. Moving Silence was originally founded in summer 2009 by the musician Marco Brosolo, filmmaker Matthias Fritsch and producer Federico Bassetti with the aim to create events that connect the roots of cinematography with the present aesthetics of image, the live music production and the potential of new technology. It constitutes a poetic, intercultural and collaborative attempt in times of information overload. It embraces experimentation and merging between contemporary forms of visual and sound inviting artists from different parts of the world to join in. Moving Silence events have taken place in different cities around Europe.
