at ARTos Foundation
Within the Framework of the 7th X-Dream Festival

ARTos Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Culture and FemLink-Art collective present Fem-Link Art, Cyprus. FemLink-Art is a women artists’ initiative founded by the artists Véronique Sapin (France) and C. M. Judge (USA), with the goal to create an international common artwork that builds a link throughout the world between women artists and their work. FemLink-Art was launched in October 2005 and since then, 145 artists from 63 countries have been invited to take part in it.

The structural principle is simple: one artist per country is invited to create a two minute video on a common topic. Between 24 to 33 videos are included in each topic referred to as «video-collages». From FemLink-Art’s premiere in the US in February 2006 to December 2014, the video-collages have been welcomed by 136 art centers, museums, galleries, and festivals in 42 countries.

FemLink-Art’s video art project is unprecedented, unique both in it’s scope and longevity, in gathering so many artists from around the world with the intention of creating a common artwork.

Since 2005, FemLink-Art launched 9 video-collages:
AGGRESSION, (24 artists - 24 videos - 24 countries - 45 min.)
FEMALE (30 artists - 30 videos - 30 countries - 60 min).
FRAGILITY (32 artists - 32 videos - 32 countries - 60 min.)
MALE (32 artists - 32 videos - 32 countries - 58 min.)
PREOCCUPATION (33 artists - 33 videos - 33 countries - 60 min.)
PROTEST (26 artists - 26 videos - 26 countries - 48 min)
RESISTANCE (32 artists - 32 videos - 32 countries - 57 min.)
VITAL, (24 artists, 24 videos, 24 countries - 42 min.)
WONDER (24 artists, 24 videos - 24 countries - 47 min.)

For the Cypriot edition of FemLink-Art the collective will present the video-collage "FEMALE" on the 16th October at 20:30, at ARTos Foundation. FemLink-Art, Cyprus is organized within the framework of the 7th X-Dream Festival.
